Hourglass

Immanuel R. Knight

Make yourself right with God
As with father and thy neighbor
Stand chin up upon his sod
Cease ignoring, and don’t belabor

Face your giants without fear
We all have somethin’ to answer for
Somethin’ we’ve done there, or here
You don’t have to hide anymore

What’s hidden will be revealed
Every act and deed so done
Might as well stand chin up now
Before time left is none

Speak up now, or forever hold your peace
Talk to God today, not tomorrow
Give in thanks, and in earnest keep
Leave no lies left to borrow

Maybe God really just wants to talk
Have you ever considered that?
With you always does he walk
When you cried, by you he sat

Repent not as a worshiper
But as a friend well in need
You needn’t be afraid of your tears
Nor the secrets you’ve tried to keep

God is offering you a shoulder
Forever extending out his hand
Talk now, and spill thy heart
Before the hourglass spills its sand
