  3. What causes the guilt in your conscience after you have offended someone?
  4. When you feel guilty, can you carry out your duties like before?
  5. When you are forgiven, what happens to your guilt? Isaiah 6:1-7

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

  6. When you refuse to forgive someone, are you holding them prisoner in your heart? Isaiah 58:6

“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.

  7. When you forgive them, have you broken the chains that bind them?

  13. Who forgives best, the one who does nothing when they are offended, or the one who responds with kindness? Luke 23:33-34

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

  14. What did Jesus mean by turning the other cheek? Matthew 5:39

39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.
