The Textile Factory
- Read the story and recite it the way you remember it:
I was in charge of a factory that made lots of beautiful and strong fabrics. As long as we kept making good fabrics, people kept buying them. Every morning, my driver would take me to work in my fancy car. I would pass by all the workers and cleaners, watching them from behind my tinted windows because I didn’t want to talk to them about their problems. My relationship with them was just about business.
From where I sat, everything seemed perfect. The factory was running well, and our business was great. We had many checks to make sure no one took anything they weren’t supposed to. Everything going in and out of the factory was tracked, except maybe the garbage truck. At the end of the day, my driver would pick me up, and I’d watch the workers from behind my tinted windows again. But then I noticed something strange; we were making lots of fabric, but our sales and profits were going down.
One sad day, I had to make a tough decision to close the factory because we ran out of money. I had already sold my car, so I had to walk out and see the disappointed faces of the workers. An old lady who worked as a cleaner came up to me, and I thought she would ask for help for her family. Instead, she took me aside and shared a secret with me.
Some workers had been sneaking large amounts of our beautiful fabrics out of the factory using the garbage trucks.
- Which character made me not want to associate with the lesser people in my factory?
- Which character could have helped me to save the factory from closing down?
- How would you ensure that when God lifts you, you will remain up?
